Library “Property Of” Stamp
An oval ownership stamp for books, libraries and collections.
What you can customize
- Edit individual text layers and fonts.
- Change the border, ink color and spacing.
- Export a transparent PNG for documents or SVG for vector workflows.
Preview wording is sample content. Replace names, dates and numbers before using the design.
A library ownership stamp helps a borrower identify where a book belongs. A useful layout puts the owner or collection name first and adds a short return instruction only if there is room. This template is for an ownership label, not a borrowing record.
Choose wording for the way books are returned
| Collection | Fictional wording | What to leave out |
|---|---|---|
| Personal shelf | FROM ALEX’S LIBRARY | A home address in a publicly shared preview |
| Classroom | ROOM 4 READING SHELF | Individual pupil information |
| Community collection | RIVER READING GROUP / PLEASE RETURN | A full lending history inside the stamp |
Test it inside the book
Measure the clear area on the endpaper or label you intend to use. Keep the mark away from an illustration, inscription or printed publication details. For a physical stamp, test the chosen ink on comparable paper first and ask the supplier about suitability and bleed-through. A screen preview cannot predict how that paper absorbs ink.
If you do not want to mark the book directly, prepare a separate bookplate or label. Check the suitability of the label and adhesive for the item rather than assuming a permanent adhesive is appropriate for every book.
Customize the owner name
- Open the template and select the ownership text. Enter a fictional name while preparing an example for sharing.
- Replace the name and optional return line. Remove a secondary line that becomes too small at the intended size.
- Keep the border and lettering simple. Avoid heavy simulated wear around small letters.
- Download PNG for placement in a bookplate layout, or SVG for a supplier who requests vector artwork. Supply the final dimensions separately.
Ownership and lending records have different jobs
The stamp identifies a collection. Record the borrower, due date and return separately in your usual lending process. Do not add personal borrower information to an image that will be reused across the collection.
